How to Write a Powerful Executive Summary

Could your business use some extra cash?  Maybe you are looking to grow, but you need that cash infusion to get your business to the next level, or maybe you need another 10 grand to complete your product development. Most small businesses will need either a loan or new investors at some point during their business life cycle, and delivering a powerful executive summary of your business to your banker or potential investor will be absolutely vital.

An Executive Summary is typically the first two pages of your business plan.  It is, hands down, the most important two pages you will ever write.  If you can’t catch the attention of your banker or intrigue a potential investor with your two page executive summary, your business plan will end up in the trash.  The purpose of your executive summary is not simply to summarize the rest of your business plan, rather it is to compel the reader to ask for more.  Your executive summary should be exciting, easy to read and understand, intriguing, and persuasive.

My good Facebook friend Adam Hoeksema is kind enough to share to my readers his guide to writing a powerful executive summary that will blow away the minds of your potential lenders! Adam is currently a consultant and writes feasibility studies, business and marketing plans to student-owned businesses, non-profit organizations, local governments, and universities.
