What Type of Female Entrepreneur Are You?

Awhile back, I found a questionnaire online about which type of female entrepreneur I am. The questionnaire was related to a study that Michelle DeKinder-Smith of Jane Out of the Box conducted with 1000 women business owners over the course of two years. In her interview, she asked them about their dreams, definition of success and their struggles. This research led Michelle to identify 5 types female entrepreneurs. Being the curious cat that I am, I filled out the questionnaire and got this result:
Go Jane Go
"Less than one in five women entrepreneurs is the type Go Jane Go.
In our research, we have found that a Go Jane Go woman is a successful female entrepreneur who has grown her business to the point that she may now struggle to get time away from her work for vacations or to take care of herself. At work, you feel confident and organized and have put systems in place to get your work done. However, you may have difficulty "saying no" to clients, volunteer opportunities, or other people who need your help.
As a Go Jane Go, you are four times more likely than other women entrepreneurs to hit the million-dollar revenue mark with your company. On average, Go Jane Go business owners take the highest personal incomes from their businesses, but because of your "can do" attitude and desire to help others, you have the least amount of personal time and may experience the stress associated with being pulled in too many directions."
Now to be honest, I wasn't too happy to read that I'm the type that's less than one in five women! As extraordinary as it may sound, it kinda freaked me out. So I wrote Michelle an email with the following question:
"Is it a bad thing that I am a go jane go type? Since it's only one out of five entrepreneur."
Michelle was so sweet and wrote back with assuring words:
Hi, Lynne!
No, it's not a bad thing at all! Go Jane Go is the rarest type, yes, but this type is also very successful. Don't know if you had a chance to read the details, but Go Jane Go is 4X more likely to have a million-dollar business than the average female entrepreneur.
As a Go Jane Go, the biggest challenge you may have in your business is that you might feel pulled in many directions at once. You probably are great at what you do and may have a tendency to pile too much on your plate. Nothing bad about that at all — but maybe something you want to think about when someone offers you a new opportunity — do you really have time for it? Are you making sure you build in enough time for rest and relaxation for yourself?
None of the types are "bad," either. Some are harder than others. I've been a Go Jane Go myself and have enjoyed helping lots of people and making good money — but there were times I felt a little burned out by all that I was doing. So that's what you should watch out for most.
Hope this helps.
Michele
Whew! That, my friends, was my exact reaction!
