Why You MUST Make Your WordPress Blog Mobile-Ready
According to a report released by comScore as part of their MobiLens Series, 234 million Americans subscribed to mobile phone plans in January 2010. Of these, 42.7 million owned Internet-accessible smartphones, which represented an 18 percent increase over the three months ended in October.
The report also indicated that 28.6 percent of users said they used the web browsers on their devices.
Another report released by AdMob shows that Smartphone usage grew 193% from last year and mobile internet device traffic increased by 403%!
Wow! If these statistics don't convince you that you must make your WordPress blog mobile-ready, I don't know what else will!
But nevertheless, let me give you Top 3 Good Reasons Why You Must Make Your WordPress Blog Mobile Ready:
1. Always keeping your readers in mind, you must make them comfortable in reading your blog, wherever they are at and whatever equipment they are using.
2. Consider new visitors who might visit your site off of a forwarded email from a friend, a link from another website or through their RSS Subscriptions. You don't want to lose them. You want to capture them right where they are at when they have the time to do so!
3. Foresight! Smartphone usage and mobile internet usage is increasing and is expected to increase in the next years to come! You don't want your blog to be left behind when it comes to mobile technology.

What Does It Take to Make Your Blog Mobile Ready?
It doesn't take a lot! Thanks to WordPress plugins! Below are some plugins that you can check out.
- WP Touch
This plugin is what I personally use for my blog. It transforms your website into an application-like interface. You can also customize its colors to match your regular blog. It's compatible with iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Palm Pre. There's no need to touch the code of your blog.
- WordPress Mobile Pack
WordPress Mobile Pack has a lot of features and customization levels. What I like about this is that it allows the blog administrator to log-in in a mobile for simple tasks such as adding a new blog post or approving comments.
- WordPress Mobile Edition
Automatically detects the user's mobile device and converts your website for mobile viewing.
The list of mobile browsers can be customized using the settings.
There you go folks! I highly recommend that you implement making your blog mobile-ready as soon as possible. It only takes a few steps!
